A word is dead
A word is dead/ When it is said,/ Some say./ I say it just/ Begins to live/ That day.
Emily Dickinson
As a writer, I know words begin to live the day they are written. Maybe they even begin to live the moment they are spoken? Maybe they even begin to live the moment they are thought?
What I know for sure is that words don’t die. They matter like consequences and results. They matter like start and stop. They matter like truth and lies. They live on in our dreams and memories. They live on in our relationships and actions. They live on in our past, present, and future.
