Katie Steedly’s first-person piece [The Unspeakable Gift] is a riveting retelling of her participation in a National Institutes of Health study that aided her quest to come to grips with her life of living with a rare genetic disorder. Her writing is superb.

Differences of Opinion

The planet goes on being round.
From Wendy Cope’s “Differences of Opinion“
I think about the difference between facts and opinions. I think about the difference between fake and real. I think about the difference between truth and lies. I think about the difference between love and cruelty. I think about the difference between powerful and powerless.
It all feels topsy-turvy in our world right now. Science. History. Kindness. Policies I never thought were debatable are being debated in bad faith power grabs. People are hurting and dying in ways that I never thought compassionate people would tolerate. Truth is irrelevant in the zeitgeist of lies and distractions.
It is easy to forget the planet goes on being round.
