Autumn
Thus all doth fall. This hand of mine must fall And lo! the other one:—it is the law. But there is One who holds this falling Infinitely softly in His hands.
From “Autumn” by Rainer Maria Rilke
I find comfort in the idea of falling Infinitely softly. I find comfort knowing I am not alone in falling. I find comfort in knowing Love is guiding it all. In fact, falling is the dance of life itself. The fluidity of falling welcomes impermanence and change and rhythm. The fluidity of falling celebrates life’s truth and light and center. The fluidity of falling is the seasons, the sun and moon, and the water that wears away the rock. The fluidity of falling surrounds our falling apart and back together in grace and faith and love. That is Autumn’s promise.
