Poetry
In the meantime, if you demand on one hand,
the raw material of poetry in
all its rawness and
that which is on the other hand
genuine, then you are interested in poetry.
from Marianne Moore’s, “Poetry“
I live in the space between raw and genuine. Between action and consequence. Between a hammer and nail. Between grace and precision. Between metaphor and fact. Between beautiful and cruel. Between love and indifference. Between broken and whole. Between not yet and as if. Between poetry and prayer.
The distance is unclear. The timing is perfect. The story is familiar. The song is pure. The words are new. The sound is truth.
I am interested in poetry. I aspire to be a “literalist of the imagination” humbly seeking to pay attention, experience awe, and describe. I aspire to be awake and in and of. I aspire to sit with it all and love.
