Experience is the Angled Road
Experience is the Angled Road/ Preferred against the Mind/ By – Paradox -the Mind itself -/ Presuming it to lead// Quite Opposite – How Complicate/ The Discipline of Man -/ Compelling Him to Choose Himself/ His Preappointed Pain –
Emily Dickinson
I know the Angled Road of Experience and often choose it over Mind and Discipline. It’s just easier. It is easier to cut than measure. It is easier to leap than look. It is easier to burn than build. Cutting. Leaping. Burning.
Thinking more deeply.
The Angled Road is the falling apart and coming together. The Angled Road is the seasons. The Angled Road is the breathing in and breathing out. The Mind does not exist outside the Angled Road. The Mind and the Angled Road are not separate. The Mind and the Angled Road are the rhythm of life itself. In that way, we don’t choose Pain, and Discipline does not prevent all pain.
We all walk the Angled Road. Our Minds move between Discipline and emotion and survival. Our Pain is part of Angled Road of Experience. Our choice is to live fully in the midst of it all.
