from [in Just-] BY E. E. Cummings
I will soak in every inch of this mud-luscious, puddle-wonderful world. In the midst of the day-to-day and moment-to-moment. In the midst of joy and sorrow. In the midst of change and challenge. In the midst of faith and fear. In the midst of certainty and doubt. In the midst of falling apart and coming together. In the midst of mud and impermanence. I run toward it. Sometimes crashing. Sometimes crying. Sometimes flying. Sometimes crawling. Sometimes dancing. Sometimes holding on. Sometimes letting go.I will soak it all in.
When I forget to soak it all in, something reminds me. Nature reminds me. Music reminds me. Animals remind me. The seasons remind me. Pictures remind me. Memories remind me. Inside jokes remind me. Long conversations remind me. Hugs remind me. The soft orange blanket reminds me. Morning pages remind me. Nightly reflections remind me.
I taste the mud-luscious, puddle-wonderfulness of it all. A puppy rolling in the grass. A warm chocolate brownie. A child’s laughter. A bud on a tree.
