This week I am thinking about Love. I love Valentine’s Day. I love a day specifically for the purpose of celebrating love in all its amazing complexity. Read about the history of Valentine’s Day. Read my Medium essay, Before the Butterfly, which tells the story of a past Valentine’s gift. The poetry of E.E. Cummings and Rita Dove speak to love’s unique beauty. Stevie Wonder’s “As” makes me cry. bell hooks “Love As A Practice of Freedo and Ashleigh Ellin’s New York Times Article “Should We Cancel Valentine’s Day” make me think. The thoughts of Alain de Botton about love make me think, too. Listen to the On Being Conversation, “The True Hard Work of Love and Relationships and read his NY Times article “Why You Will Marry The Wrong Person.“
