Working Together
We shape our self
to fit this worldand by the world
From David Whyte’s “Working Together“
are shaped again.
I have an ongoing debate with my husband about whether or not the best music has already been written. He insists there will never be another Beatles or Led Zeppelin. I insist that there will never be another Beatles or Led Zeppelin, but there will be artists who are shaped by their artistry.
Voting shapes our world, too. Voting is the conversation we have with the world we want to leave for future generations. Voting is the conversation between between the as if and not yet. Voting is the conversation in which individuals shape the world and are shaped again. We must protect our right to vote and shape our world.
Shaping is a conversation that happens over time. Shaping happens slowly as the world reveals itself to us and we reveal ourselves to the world. Innovation. Healing. Growth. I think that is how it works. Our family. Our friends. Our work. Our food. Our music. Our books. Our movies. Our sports. Our hobbies. It all is a conversation that shapes us and our world.
I like the idea that we work together. It all works together to shape us and our world. That is a hopeful thought. That is an active thought. That is a loving thought. We choose our who, what, when, where, how, and why.
The Beatles are the Beatles. Led Zeppelin is Led Zeppelin. Classics are classics. They were shaped. They shaped. We are shaped. We shape. Working together.
